Liam Sutton is set to become North Queensland Cowboy No.332 after being named to make his NRL debut in the Magic Round clash against the Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday evening.
A Newcastle Knights junior, Sutton arrived in North Queensland for the 2026 pre-season on a two-year deal after a stellar campaign in the Queensland Cup for Wynnum Manly.
He impressed immediately, splitting time between the halves and centre and eventually earned a spot on the plane to Las Vegas.
Sutton has been named at five-eighth, with Jake Clifford shifting to halfback in the absence of co-captain Tom Dearden.
Griffin Neame will celebrate his 100th appearance for the Cowboys, becoming the 36th player in club history to reach the century mark.
Clifford is set for his 100th NRL appearance in a big day of milestones for the Cowboys.
Matt Lodge has been named to start at prop with Jason Taumalolo rested.
Xavier Kerrisk, Wiremu Greig and Ethan King could also make their first appearances in Cowboys colours after being named on the interchange.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 5.30pm.
