Five things to know: Round 19 v Tigers

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys host the Wests Tigers at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

1. BIG GUNS RETURN

Queensland State of Origin quartet Valentine Holmes, Murray Taulagi, Tom Dearden and Jeremiah Nanai have been named to return for Sunday’s clash with the Tigers. Holmes, Dearden and Nanai were rested by Todd Payten for last week’s game against the Sharks, while Taulagi was sidelined with COVID-19.

2. HELLO AGAIN

Sunday’s fixture will be the second meeting between the two sides in 2022. The Cowboys triumphed 36-12 at Magic Round in May behind a seven try onslaught. The Cowboys have won 11 of 17 matches played between the two sides in North Queensland.

3. SUNDAY RUN

This weekend’s game is the first of three consecutive Sunday fixtures for the Cowboys. North Queensland travel to Sydney to face the Dragons in Round 20 and Bundaberg to battle the Bulldogs in Round 21.

4. ON A ROLL

Cowboys wingers Kyle Feldt and Murray Taulagi will be out to continue their golden try scoring runs against the Tigers. Feldt has crossed eight times in nine games against the Tigers, while Taulagi has notched four tries in just three games, including doubles in his previous two appearances.

5. STATS UPDATE

Despite resting last weekend, Holmes still leads the NRL with 149 points and 62 goals. Jason Taumalolo ranks third with 1075 post contact metres, while Chad Townsend ranks second with 15 try assists. Reece Robson’s 690 tackles are the fifth most in the NRL, while Murray Taulagi’s five intercepts are three more than any other player.
