2003 was without a doubt the Cowboys' best season to date.

Greater consistency in good performances saw an improved away game record for the season.

New Principal Sponsor Toyota injected much needed support for the Club.

The return of experienced Queensland forward Kevin Campion to his native North Queensland proved a major boost for the Cowboys, and he was joined by New Zealand front rower Paul Rauhihi, the two of them taking up the positions of new recruits for the season.

Midway through 2003 the Cowboys were in the top eight and kept in touch with the competition leaders all season, only narrowly missing a semi-final spot.

The brilliant form of Matt Sing was a major highlight for the Club, rekindling his representative career, becoming North Queensland's first Australian representative while living in the region since Kerry Boustead in 1978.
