The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have finalised its Football Department for the 2027 NRL season.
Once again led by NRL Head Coach Todd Payten, the Cowboys will roll out a new-look Performance Unit in 2027.
Assistant Coaches Blake Green, Steve Sheppard and Jordan McLean remain in their roles, as do Contact Coach Brett O’Farrell and Head of Leadership and Culture Don Singe.
Mitchell Dunn has been promoted to NRL Assistant Coach after two seasons as Elite Pathways Head Coach.
Cowboy No.35 and long-time Head of Performance Paul Bowman has made the decision to step aside from his role and move into the newly created General Manager of Elite Player Development.
Innisfail boy Pat Kenny returns to North Queensland as the Cowboys’ Head of Performance after stints with the Broncos and the Queensland State of Origin team.
Kenny’s team includes former Queensland Reds strength and conditioner Sam Harrison, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Lachlan Trenerry, who joins the club from the Easts Tigers and Sports Scientist Mitch Pemberton.
Long-time Head Physiotherapist Steve Sartori will move into the newly created Head of Medical Services ahead of the 2027 season, while Dr Chris Ball remains in place as the club’s Chief Medical Officer.
Ashley Graham and Jon Crawley continue as NRL Physiotherapists.
“The club is excited about the construction of our Football Department for 2027, in particular our new-look High Performance Unit,” Cowboys Football Club CEO Micheal Luck said.
“We have brought in new people with new ideas, who have come from diverse backgrounds and bring different perspectives to an area that is a critical piece of all high-performing programs.
“We consider ourselves a development club, that includes staff, which is why we are pleased to finalise Mitch Dunn’s promotion to the NRL coaching staff after a terrific apprenticeship with our pathways programs following his playing retirement.
“We are eager to see Todd and his staff hit the ground running when our first crop of players return for the start of pre-season next week.”
