2019 season review: Coen Hess

In a year marred by injuries for the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, Coen Hess’ durability would become extremely important.

The 22-year-old missed just two games throughout the season and became somewhat of a ‘Mr Fix-it’ for head coach Paul Green.

2019 season highlights: Coen Hess

After starting the season in his usual second-row spot, Hess was forced to shift to the middle rotation and even played four games at centre as the Cowboys battled an injury crisis.

His best performance of the year came during that four-game stint at centre. In Round 20 against the Wests Tigers, Hess ran for a season-high 137 metres and also chipped in three offloads and eight tackles.
