Kids in regional Far North Queensland stepped on field in style with new football boots donated under North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ Boots for the Bush, proudly presented by Elders.
After starting in 2014, Boots for the Bush has operated through generous donations of pre-loved football boots which are delivered to communities across North Queensland.
Cowboys community ambassador and ex-Cowboy Antonio Winterstein was on hand when the delivery was made to the Gulf communities of Normanton and Doomadgee.
"It's great to be representing this grassroots club program that has a positive influence on kids in communities across North Queensland," Antonio said.
Many of the communities we visit are remote and access to footy boots isn't as easy as driving down the road to the local store."
Donations were made at various collection points in Townsville, including at program partner Elders Townsville in Garbutt.
"It's because of the generosity of people and the support of Elders that we can make a difference, meaning equity for our remote communities," Antonio said.
The Cowboys community team recently made the Boots for the Bush donation as part of their travels throughout Far North Queensland and the Gulf.
