The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have made a major splash in the NRLW player market, securing the services of established halves Zali Hopkins and Ash Quinlan ahead of the 2027 season.
Hopkins has agreed to a three-year deal, while Quinlan has inked a two-year contract.
Still just 24, Hopkins made her NRLW debut for St George Illawarra in 2022 and appeared in 38 games for the Dragons across five seasons.
A former captain of the Dragons, Hopkins registered 14 try assists, including a career-high six in 2026, and scored five tries during her time at St George Illawarra.
A veteran of 42 NRLW matches and eight Tests for the Kiwi Ferns, Quinlan arrives in North Queensland as one of the competition's most experienced halves.
The 31-year-old made her NRLW debut for Parramatta in 2022 and helped guide the Eels to a grand final appearance in her first season.
Quinlan spent 2023 and 2024 with Canberra before a two-season stint with the Bulldogs in 2025 and 2026.
She represented the Kiwi Ferns in their World Cup opener against Fiji last weekend and has also made four appearances for the Māori All Stars.
“Zali is a half with an outstanding kicking game, strong football IQ and the ability to lead a team around the park,” Cowboys NRLW Head Coach Ricky Henry said.
“She'll bring a calm, composed presence in key moments.
“Zali is excited about the challenge ahead and we're looking forward to the experience, leadership and direction she'll bring to our squad.”
“Ash is a highly talented and experienced half whose skill set will add real value to our squad.
“She has the ability to play what she sees, challenge defensive lines and create opportunities through her instinctive style of play.
“What I really admire about Ash is her competitiveness and her willingness to play direct. She brings confidence, experience and an attacking mindset that will complement our group.”
