Three North Queensland junior rugby league clubs are benefiting from a generous donation of footballs from Toyota Australia, made possible through its longstanding partnership with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and the club’s strong connections across the grassroots rugby league community.
Originally produced for a Cowboys game day activation, Toyota saw an opportunity to give the 300 footballs a life beyond the event. Working with the Cowboys, the footballs were donated to the Upper Ross Rams, Charters Towers Miners and JCU Saints, where they will continue to be put to good use within the local rugby league community.
Vin Naidoo, General Manager National Marketing at Toyota Australia said the initiative demonstrated how the longstanding partnership between Toyota and the Cowboys can deliver meaningful outcomes for communities beyond the game itself:
"Our partnership with the Cowboys is about much more than what happens on game day. It gives us an opportunity to support the communities and grassroots clubs that play such an important role in rugby league across North Queensland," Naidoo said.
"When the opportunity arose to donate these footballs, working with the Cowboys meant we could connect with local clubs and ensure they went where they could make a genuine difference. We're proud to support the young players, coaches and volunteers who continue to grow the game across our region."
For the clubs, the donation will provide additional equipment for their junior programs while helping offset some of the ongoing costs associated with delivering community sport.
Amanda Glenwright from Charters Towers Miners Junior Rugby League said the footballs would be put to good use across the club.
"Footballs are one of the most heavily used pieces of equipment at any rugby league club, so a donation like this makes a real difference," she said.
"We're incredibly grateful for the support of Toyota Australia and to the Cowboys for helping facilitate the donation. These footballs will be used by our players every week at training and on game days, and it's great to see partnerships like this delivering directly back into grassroots rugby league."
The initiative demonstrates how Toyota’s longstanding partnership with the Cowboys continues to create benefits beyond the NRL, supporting grassroots clubs and the next generation of rugby league players across North Queensland.
