Thanks to the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works

This video is the first in a series that step behind the scenes of the design and construction of the North Queensland Stadium in Townsville. Located on the banks of Ross Creek adjacent to the CBD, the new stadium has been specifically designed for North Queensland's climate and lifestyle.

The collective expertise of architects, engineers, scientific researchers and construction contractors have been applied to optimise the design of this unique structure, including the horseshoe-shaped, cantilever roof inspired by the pandanus plant.

The North Queensland Stadium is a joint project of the Australian Government, the Queensland Government and Townsville City Council and is supported by the National Rugby League and the North Queensland Cowboys. It forms part of the Townsville City Deal signed in December 2016.
