The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a one-year extension with front-rower Griffin Neame.
Already contracted for the 2025 season, the extension ensures Neame will remain in North Queensland at least through the end of 2026.
Signed out of the tiny town of Greymouth on New Zealand’s South Island as a teenager, Neame relocated to North Queensland in 2019.
Neame made his NRL debut in 2021 and emerged as a regular in Todd Payten’s 17 by the following season, playing 23 games in 2022.
The 23-year-old has appeared in 66 games for the Cowboys through four seasons in the NRL.
Neame made his International debut for the Kiwis in the 2023 Pacific Cup and scored a try in New Zealand’s 30-nil thumping of the Kangaroos in the final.
“Griffin has come through every level of our pathways systems and has emerged as a crucial member of our NRL squad over the last couple of seasons,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.
“Griff plays his best football when he is settled and knows his role and expectations around his contribution and this extension provides that for him off the field until the end of 2026.
“He is humble, he’s dedicated to his craft and we envision him becoming a leader of our forward pack in the coming seasons.”
