Cowboys Group unites community support with new program

The Cowboys Group, encompassing the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, Cowboys Leagues Club and Cowboys Community Foundation, is bringing its community support under one banner through Cowboys for Community, creating a centralised channel to assist people and organisations across the region.

The new program reflects a shared commitment to ensuring the Cowboys Group can continue making meaningful differences across the North, establishing a central pathway for community requests received by the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, Cowboys Leagues Club and Cowboys Community Foundation. Requests will now be centrally managed by the Foundation on behalf of the wider Group.

Each year, the Cowboys Group receives hundreds of requests from individuals, schools, charities, sporting clubs, community organisations and businesses.

Support can take many forms, from tickets, merchandise and memorabilia to venue access, community experiences, donations or the expertise of Cowboys staff and players.

Cowboys for Community will bring these contributions together, allowing requests to be assessed consistently and transparently while giving the Group a clearer picture of its collective community investment.

Cowboys Community Foundation Chief Executive Officer Fiona Pelling said Cowboys for Community would unite the commitment to community already embedded in the Cowboys Group.

“Supporting our community has always been part of who we are, but those contributions have often come through different teams, relationships and processes,” Ms Pelling said.

“Cowboys for Community brings these threads together, giving people one clear path to reach out and provides a more complete picture of our contribution across our communities, helping us make informed decisions about where our support can have the greatest impact.”

“Ultimately, this is about combining the resources of the Cowboys Group to make an even greater difference across our region.”

Cowboys Leagues Club General Manager Clint Williams said the program would build on the Group’s longstanding commitment to its community.

“The Cowboys Leagues Club has a proud history of supporting local organisations and causes, having donated over $14 million to community causes since we began, and our commitment to this is stronger than ever,” Mr Williams said.

“Cowboys for Community gives us a coordinated way to continue that support while working closely with the Foundation and wider Cowboys Group.

One recent group who have been able to receive this support is the North Queensland branch of Invictus Australia who received $5,985 from charity fundraising at the Leagues Club.

Veteran Engagement Regional Manager for North Queensland Justine Lugg said the support received through the Cowboys Leagues Club's Charity of the Month program has made a genuine difference to the North Queensland veteran community.

“Thanks to the funds raised, we were able to register Team Veteran in Hoops in the Tropics, providing our veterans with an opportunity to come together, compete, and build connections through sport."

"The team proudly made it through to the finals, which was a fantastic achievement, but the real win was seeing the positive impact the event had on the wellbeing, confidence and camaraderie of everyone involved."

"Without the support of community-minded organisations like the Cowboys Leagues Club, opportunities such as this simply wouldn't be possible. We are incredibly grateful for their contribution and commitment to supporting local veterans and their families."

Community requests made through the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and Cowboys Leagues Club websites will now be directed through the Cowboys for Community application process via cowboysfoundation.org.au/requests.

Each request received through Cowboys for Community is assessed individually based on community impact, alignment with Cowboys Group values and availability and operational commitments to support initiatives that deliver positive outcomes across our communities.

The new portal is live now and can be used year-round.
