Cowboys members go the distance

Julianne and Terry covered an astounding 16,000 kilometres in their mission to support the Toyota Cowboys last year, travelling from their home on the Gold Coast to North Queensland to attend home games.

Julianne said that they chose to spend the year going to as many home games as they could.

“There is nothing like being there to show our support - we were there for JT's 300th NRL game and for his last home game,” Julianne said.

The couple made their first drive to a home game in Townsville after becoming Cowboys members in 2014 and haven’t stopped since.

Julianne explained that there is no typical season for them as members.

“Some years we support from afar… and others we drive up for one or two games.”

“Last year, we drove up three times and spent time travelling around North Queensland, taking in lots it had to offer.”

Julianne and Terry help make up the 10% of Cowboys members and fans, considered the largest contingent in the NRL, who travel outside their home community to catch the home game action.

Julianne said that they’ve met a lot of people who travel to Townsville to see the boys.

“There are heaps of people who drive from Mount Isa, Mackay, Rockhampton, Cairns and beyond - we met a couple who travelled from Sydney in the hope of seeing the boys win at home and of getting a chance to meet JT.”

“Cowboys have the most loyal and dedicated fans in the NRL,” Julianne said.

Julianne and Terry will be travelling south from their home to Brisbane to support the Cowboys when they take on the Broncos in Round 2.
