Lee Kernaghan Returns Home for Cowboys Old Boys Round Celebrations

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are proud to welcome Australian country music legend Lee Kernaghan back to Townsville for a special halftime performance during the Cowboys' Old Boys Round clash against the Wests Tigers on Saturday 29 August at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

Presented by The Cowboys Leagues Club, Old Boys Round celebrates the rich history of the club and the players, staff, members and supporters who have helped shape the Cowboys over the past three decades.

Few artists are more closely connected to the Cowboys' story than Kernaghan, who performed at the club's inaugural home game in 1995 and helped create one of the most enduring traditions in North Queensland sport through the commissioning of the club anthem, C'mon The Cowboys.

More than 30 years later, the song remains a rallying cry for generations of Cowboys fans, making Kernaghan's return for Old Boys Round a nostalgic and meaningful moment for the club and its supporters.

Thanks to the Cowboys Leagues Club, fans will be treated to a special halftime performance from Kernaghan, bringing one of the club's most iconic figures back to the stage as part of a night dedicated to celebrating Cowboys heritage.

The celebrations begin well before the NRL match, with a blockbuster double-header featuring the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NRLW team taking on the Newcastle Knights, giving members and fans the opportunity to cheer on both Cowboys teams in what promises to be a huge afternoon and evening of football.

Fans and members are encouraged to embrace the spirit of Old Boys Round by wearing their favourite Cowboys heritage jersey, polo or supporter gear from across the club's proud history. Whether it's a reminder of the inaugural seasons, the 2005 Grand Final run, the 2015 premiership campaign or any era in between, the club is calling on supporters to help turn Queensland Country Bank Stadium into a sea of Cowboys memories.

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys CEO Micheal Luck said Lee's connection to the club made him the perfect addition to the Old Boys Round celebrations.

The celebrations will continue long after the final siren, with Kernaghan joining Cowboys Head Coach Todd Payten and Cowboys Football Manager and club legend Glenn Hall at the leagues club for the club's popular post-match presentation.

Supporters will have the opportunity to hear from Payten and Hall as they reflect on the game and officially announce the Cowboys' best performer from the evening alongside one of the club's most recognisable supporters.
