Four North Queensland Toyota Cowboys full-season members had the unique opportunity to gain an inside look at North Queensland Stadium on an exclusive site visit yesterday.
The visit, including an information session and tour, delivered direct insight into the progress of the development and was hosted by the Department of Housing and Public Works (HPW), who are leading the delivery of the North Queensland Stadium project.
Key stakeholders of the stadium project participated in the tour, with the four Cowboys members joining the group as special guests.
Corporate members Ken Hooper (Metroll) and Kirk DeMotte (Metroll), and Diamond Star members Andrew and Nicole Ross have recommitted to 12-game memberships for 2019.
By renewing for next year they will experience the benefits of their full-season membership in the current venue and will also have priority access to their 'best-equivalent' seat in the new stadium in 2020.
Corporate members Ken and Kirk had the opportunity to see the concrete decks for the main concourse complete in the new western stand.
"It was really fantastic and a good opportunity to explore this side of it," Kirk said.
"Seeing all this being built from scratch will be a great story for the future."
Meanwhile, Andrew and Nicole have secured seats in the Eastern Lower Terrace for 2019 at 1300SMILES Stadium.
Nicole, who has been a member for 11 years, said she's looking forward to the start of the season to continue a family tradition.
"The games are something we can now enjoy with our 11-month-old son; we obviously love going to the footy and he will too," she said.
"His first game as a Cowboys member will be at the new stadium, so it'll be great."
The centrally located 25,000 seat, best-practice, multi-purpose, regional stadium will be built in time for the start of the 2020 NRL season.
North Queensland Stadium is a joint project of the Queensland Government, Australian Government and Townsville City Council and is supported by both the National Rugby League and the North Queensland Cowboys. The stadium forms part of the Townsville City Deal signed in December 2016.
