Cowboys Leagues Club awarded Large Employer of the Year

Cowboys Leagues Club has taken out one of Queensland’s top training honours after being named Large Employer of the Year at the Queensland Training Awards State Final for its commitment to creating career pathways in hospitality.

The awards which were held in Brisbane on Saturday recognise Queensland businesses and organisations leading the way in training, skills development and career pathways.

Cowboys Group General Manager of Licensed Venues and Projects Clint Williams said the award was an incredible honour that belongs to the entire Cowboys Leagues Club team.

“It recognises the culture we've built and the commitment we have to creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed,” he said.

“We foster a supportive team environment that provides opportunities for development and a genuine care for the wellbeing of our employees.

“Our people bring passion, dedication and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional experiences every day.”

Cowboys Leagues Club stood out among a strong field of finalists from across the state to receive the award, which celebrates outstanding achievement in vocational education and training by a Queensland business with 100 or more full-time equivalent employees.

The Club will now represent Queensland for consideration at the Australian Training Awards to be held in Sydney on November 20 where the nation’s top workplaces and training organisations will be recognised.

Cowboys Group Head of Human Resources for Licensed Venues Anita Poorta said team members had access to a range of support to grow their careers from nationally recognised hospitality certifications to mentorship and hands-on training.

“Our approach has always been about giving people the opportunity to grow with us,” she said.

"Whether someone joins us as a school-based trainee, an apprentice or in a casual role, we want them to see a future for themselves at Cowboys Leagues Club.

“We’re proud to create pathways that allow local people to learn, progress and build meaningful careers in hospitality.”
