Student leader Lucy and Cowboys ambassador Matthew Bowen.

Matt Bowen recently visited junior students at The Cathedral School who fundraised at their school disco and chose to donate the proceeds to NRL Cowboys House.

As a Cowboys ambassador Matt was presented with a cheque of just under $1500 by primary school students at their school assembly.

Matt said that it was privilege to accept the donation on behalf of NRL Cowboys House.

"It was great to see the kids take initiative and decide to donate to the House," Matt said.

"The funds will be used to benefit the House in our education initiatives."

The Cathedral School head of junior school Luke Baills said that student leaders nominated to support the NRL Cowboys House.

"NRL Cowboys House was chosen for the work they do locally to provide a secondary education for young Indigenous students," Mr Baills said.

The Junior School holds House Day/Disco events in Terms 1, 2 and 3 each year to raise funds for local charities.

NRL Cowboys House provides supported accommodation for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from some of North Queensland's most remote and educationally disadvantaged communities, enabling them to access quality secondary education opportunities in Townsville.
