The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are off to a flying start in the 2017 NRL Auckland Nines with a 27-15 win over the Sydney Roosters.
A hat-trick to speedy winger Gideon-Gela Mosby was the highlight and echoed the youngster’s auspicious debut last year.
Gela-Mosby combined with fellow young gun Kalyn Ponga for an opening-half try, while his second off a Johnathan Thurston kick was all class.
Michael Morgan and Justin O’Neill rounded out the try-scorers as the team built on a 15-7 half-time lead to set up their tournament perfectly.
The team plays the Raiders at 6.35pm NZ (3.35pm Qld).
