With the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys visiting the land of the long white cloud for the NRL Auckland Nines, members and fans are ramping up for the season’s first representative game – but none more so than 13-year-old Cowboys Super Star member Jacob.

Born and raised in Christchurch, Jacob first fell in love with the game of rugby league when he played for his local team – Riccarton Knights League Club – at the age of nine, and continues to love sport, representing his school in basketball, softball, baseball and of course rugby league.

His passion for the Cowboys grew from watching his idol Jason Taumalolo play for the Cowboys – he fell in love with the entire team and is now a fully-fledged Super Star member, thanks to his great nanna who bought his first membership as a Christmas present in 2012, and has done ever since.

Jacob owns almost every Cowboys jersey since becoming a member and says he never misses a game on the television.

“I love how they [Cowboys] help the kids and give back to the community, and they have the best players,” Jacob said.

The young fan says the best part about being a 2017 member is all the email updates he gets with exclusive information on the team, and the competition among his friends and family with their favourite teams.

“My uncle is a Rabbitohs supporter, so it makes our family footy nights pretty interesting,” Jacob said.

He's looking forward to this weekend’s Auckland Nines competition, where he says “the Cowboys will take it out again!”.
