North Queensland Toyota Cowboys second-rower Gavin Cooper has today been named in the XXXX Queensland Maroons team for Game III of the State of Origin series at ANZ Stadium on 13 July.

Cooper will become the 185th player to represent Queensland in the Origin arena when he makes his debut on Wednesday week.

The announcement follows Sunday's 150-game club milestone for the second-rower against the Rabbitohs in Cairns, the Murgon Mustangs junior debuting for the Cowboys back in Round 2, 2006.

Cooper will take his place in the 2016 series winners' side with club teammates Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott and Justin O'Neill, with Michael Morgan unavailable for selection due to injury.

The Cowboys five-eighth suffered a knee injury in the Maroons' Game II victory at Suncorp Stadium on 22 June.

Earlier on Monday, James Tamou was named in the New South Wales Blues side to play Queensland in the final game for 2016.
