North Queensland Toyota Cowboys coach Paul Green has admitted he has a few headaches after their 20-point trial win over the Titans at Barlow Park.

The 30-10 touch-up of rivals Gold Coast showed there was plenty of depth at the team’s disposal with Lachlan Coote and Michael Morgan getting plenty of time in the fullback role.

“There were pluses and minuses for both – I’ll have a good look at the tape and make a decision around that.

"Both competed well, both had good touches.”

It also marked the return of Matt Scott after being sidelined for most of the pre-season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

“I thought he was a little bit rusty for his standards," Green said of his co-captain.

"It was his first game back from a pretty serious shoulder operation but he was still good.”

The Queensland and Test prop admitted to having some nerves ahead of the Cairns trial, but was confident he’d be right after some strenuous testing during training.

“Pretty good shape with the shoulder, I think I’m ahead of schedule so good to get a few minutes out there tonight,” Scott said.

“We know we've got a lot of hard work ahead of us – tonight was a first step in the process in improving and hopefully we can improve again leading into round one.”
