The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys landed in Cairns yesterday ahead of their final trial match against the Gold Coast Titans and hit the ground running, meeting members and supporters in a series of public appearances.

First up was a visit to Cairns Stockland, where a huge crowd of Cowboys fanatics turned out to show their true colours and get their hands on a signature or photo with the team.

Coach Paul Green told the crowd that fans could expect a 'cracking match' at Barlow Park, with both sides ready to rumble.

“The boys are keen to get a game under their belt on Saturday night – it will be a pretty good hit-out for us as both teams brought a strong squad, so sure the game will be a spectacle for the fans.”

Then it was over to the exclusive Cairns members-only function where almost 100 members mingled with the players and enjoyed the entertainment with General Manager - Football Peter Parr on the mic.

This was the club's first members' function in Cairns with lots of attendees walking away with some great Cowboys prizes.

Co-captain Johnathan Thurston spoke on stage and explained how vital the support of our members is.

“They are the backbone of our club and success and there's no better feeling than running out at 1300SMILES Stadium and Barlow Park to a really vocal crowd to cheer us on,” he said.

A number of the players also paid a visit to their feeder club and NRL State Championship winners Northern Pride, who held their Intrust Super Cup season launch last night.

A big thank you to all of our members and supporters who came out to see the boys!
