The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys will meet their Queensland rivals from Brisbane in a blockbuster sudden-death match in the opening weekend of NRL finals.
After finishing the home and away season in fifth place on the ladder on 32 points thanks to an incredible sequence of victories at home, the Cowboys will host the eighth-placed Broncos at 1300SMILES Stadium at 7.55pm on Saturday night.
The loser’s season will be over while the winner will stay alive in the 2014 premiership.
It will be the third Cowboys v Broncos final with North Queensland aiming for a treble after winning the two previous meetings in 2004 and 2012.
The two clubs had a win apiece in their clashes this year with Brisbane triumphing 16-12 at Suncorp Stadium in round two and the Cowboys scoring a 27-14 victory at 1300SMILES Stadium in round nine.
The Cowboys, who have no additional injury concerns following Saturday night’s win against Manly, will have a day off training on Monday before ramping up their preparations for a fourth straight finals series on Tuesday.
