The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a two-year contract extension with winger Braidon Burns, running through the end of the 2028 season.
The 29-year-old has been a fixture in Todd Payten’s side since the beginning of the 2025 season after taking over the right wing spot following Kyle Feldt’s departure.
Burns joined the Cowboys mid-way through the 2024 season after being plucked from South Sydney’s reserve grade side.
He has scored 20 tries in his 27 appearances for the Cowboys, including a double in Saturday’s Magic Round victory over the Roosters.
In total, Burns has registered 89 appearances at NRL level since making his debut for the Rabbitohs in 2017. He also played for the Bulldogs between 2022-23.
“Braidon has been a tremendous asset for our club since the moment he arrived in 2024,” Cowboys Football Club CEO Micheal Luck said.
“We knew we were getting a player who could step in and play first grade straight away, but he has exceeded all of our expectations.
“He has a strong yardage carry, finishes tries and just as importantly is a wonderful communicator defensively on the edge.
“We are thrilled to have Braidon commit to our club for another two seasons.”
Burns said he believes he has played his best football in North Queensland.
“I’m really happy to be staying on for another two years,” he said.
“My family and I have loved our time in North Queensland and I feel like I’ve found my best footy at the club.
“I’m grateful for Todd and the club for taking a chance on me a couple of years ago and I am excited about what this group can build over the next few years.”
