TAFE Queensland expands partnership to NRLW

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are proud to announce the expansion of its strategic partnership with TAFE Queensland, with the state’s largest training provider now backing our NRLW program.

As part of the three-year agreement signed in 2023, the major partner will be proudly displayed on the lower back of the NRLW Cowboys home and away playing jerseys through to the end of 2026.

NRLW Head of Women’s Elite Programs, Anita Creenaune said the partnership sent a strong message of support of the women’s game.

“To have TAFE Queensland come on board is a great result, not just for our players and club, but for future of women’s rugby league right across the North Queensland region,” said Creenaune.

“It’s more than a logo on a jersey – but a sign of belief in something that inspires so many young women.”

Several NRLW players, including Najvada George who is currently studying a Certificate III in Beauty Services, are pursuing TAFE Queensland qualifications alongside their playing careers, opening doors to future opportunities beyond the field.

TAFE Queensland General Manager North region Susan Kinobe said the expansion signalled their significant commitment to the region.

“We’re excited to grow our support of the Cowboys to include the NRLW program as part of our established relationship with the Cowboys,” Kinobe said.

“The expansion will cement TAFE Queensland as the team that has the Cowboys' back.”

Kinobe said the partnership between two iconic North Queensland brands was creating real training and employment opportunities for the community.

“Together with the Cowboys, we are strengthening our communities by ensuring local job seekers, particularly those facing barriers to employment, gain the skills and confidence needed to secure meaningful careers,” she said.

“This partnership is about building futures and creating pathways to long-term success in industries that need skilled workers.”
