Cowboys and Queensland Government partner to back women in manufacturing

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are proud to announce a new 12-month partnership with the Crisafulli Government, aimed at encouraging more women to consider a career in manufacturing.

Celebrating Queensland’s trailblazing women in the sector, the partnership will be brought to life through match day advertising and on-field activations throughout the 2025 NRL and NRLW seasons.

As match day sponsor for our Round 13 clash against the Tigers, the Queensland Government’s Women in Manufacturing Program, will take centre stage with exciting game day activations and opportunities for fans to get involved.

Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel said the club was proud to partner with the Queensland Government for the 2025 season to create opportunities for women in our community.

“Together the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and the Queensland Government are putting women in manufacturing in the spotlight,” Reibel said.

“The partnership will also support our NRLW team and the NRL Cowboys House program.

“This is an exciting partnership that highlights our shared focus on initiatives that improve women’s economic opportunities.”

NRLW Head of Women’s Elite Programs, Anita Creenaune said the partnership sent a strong message of support and encouragement of the next generation of female leaders.

“We want young women to see there are no limits – whether it’s running onto the field in the NRLW, or starting a career in manufacturing,” Creenaune said.

“It’s about showcasing strong female role models to inspire young women to believe they can achieve their goals too.”

The campaign will include match-day videos and business opportunities that connect local manufacturers with the community.

Minister for Manufacturing Dale Last said Queensland women were kicking goals in manufacturing, and the best way to encourage more women into the industry was by promoting the trailblazers.

“We’re spreading the word by teaming up with the North Queensland Cowboys, tapping into their enormous reach both on and off the field,” Minister Last said.

“There are exciting career opportunities for women and girls designing and making products that solve real-world problems.

“The NRL has a growing fanbase of young women and we’ve jumped at the opportunity to partner with one of the league’s strongest and most trusted brands to share our message.

“We already have an established Manufacturing Hub in Townsville and a thriving local industry so the opportunities for women wanting to get involved in the sector are endless.”

Townsville is Queensland’s third biggest manufacturing region, contributing $1.3 billion to the state’s economy each year. The sector offers careers in everything from food and clothing to defence and high-tech robotics.

The Cowboys look forward to working with the Queensland Government over the next 12 months to promote more opportunities for women in the North.
