The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are pleased to announce veteran hooker and 2021 Members’ Player of the Year Jake Granville as their nominee for the 2023 Ken Stephen Medal, recognising his extensive and impactful community work.
As a champion for inclusiveness for individuals living with a disability and their families, 2023 marks the second time Granville has been nominated for the prestigious NRL community award.
Cowboys members and fans can now vote for Jake for the Ken Stephen Medal, with the winner of the fan vote earning $2,500 to give back to their Junior Rugby League Club and a Charity, and automatically becoming the fourth finalist.

Jake's nomination recognises his long-term relationship with local school Townsville Community Learning Centre through the club’s flagship Adopt-a-School program, while his continued efforts to support children through initiatives such as Bentley Farm Disability Support and Respite and Ronald McDonald House add to his portfolio of work.
Players are nominated for the Ken Stephen Medal by each of the 17 NRL clubs in recognition of their off-field community and charity work, while also considering each player’s on-field record.
The overall winner is set to be announced at the 2023 NRL Dally M Awards.
This year will be the 35th Ken Stephen Medal to be awarded, with a host of worthy recipients receiving this prestigious award since Wayne Pearce won the inaugural medal in 1988, including Cowboys legend Johnathan Thurston in 2012.
