North Queensland Toyota Cowboys members have crowned Jeremiah Nanai as their 2022 Members Player of the Year.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Cairns, Jeremiah first played for Cairns Kangaroos at age 13. His talent on the footy field was clear from the outset, with selectors hand-picking Jeremiah for the Australian Schoolboys Under-15 merit side in 2018, Northern Marlins QRL Under-16 State Championship side in 2019 and Queensland Under 18 Emerging Origin squad in 2020.

After signing with the Cowboys Academy, Nanai moved to Townsville to complete his last two years of schooling at Kirwan State High School where he played an instrumental role in their NRL Schoolboy Cup win in 2019.

In 2020 he joined the Cowboys development squad for the 2021 season, during which he played just seven games for the Northern Pride before making his NRL debut for the club in Round 22 against the Tigers.

The hard-working yet humble back-rower, who has quickly become a Cowboys fan-favourite, credits his success to “working hard, never giving up and not taking opportunities for granted.”

Jeremiah was presented with the Members Player of the Year Trophy at training last week by long-term full season member Kelli-Ann Stollznow.
