2022 Cowboys Ground Announcers Carley Whittington and Cliff 'CK' Kern

Mrs Whittington said the pair would take the helm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium from the first home game of the season, the Cowboys clash against the Bulldogs on Sunday 13 March.

“Throughout the 2022 season, CK and I will make sure every footy fan at Queensland Country Bank Stadium has the opportunity to hear, see and interact with all the excitement of a Cowboys home game,” Mrs Whittington said.

“We’ll be keeping the crowd pumped before kick-off, getting fans involved in a packed schedule of half-time activities and wrapping it all up at the end of the game,” she said.

“2022 is going to deliver an absolute blockbuster season of entertainment and we’re proud to be doing our part to get North Queensland families back to the footy,” she said.

The broadcasters are well-known to listeners across the north, with Carley hosting hit103.1’s morning slot and #ThisIsTownsville podcast series; and CK a sought after radio, TV and newspaper contributor, host of afternoons on 102.3 Triple M and director of the region’s popular Puft Events food trucks initiative.

SCA partnership nears three decades

Cowboys’ Chief Commercial Officer Ross Aldridge welcomed the appointment, having confirmed Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA’s) partnership with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys would continue for a further three years.

“The appointment of CK and Carley as our 2022 ground announcers, backed by SCA’s long-term commitment to the Cowboys, is a superb outcome for regional rugby league fans, both at home and abroad,”

“With Cowboys followers in every corner of the globe, this partnership will ensure those who rely on SCA’s broadcast platforms have the vital information they need to follow our progress, while ensuring home game attendees stay involved in all the action as well,” Mr Aldridge said.

“SCA’s unwavering support of the Cowboys for nearly three decades has ensured our brand has remained in the hearts, minds and living rooms of regional communities across northern Australia and we look forward to this partnership continuing with CK and Carley leading the charge.”

SCA will broadcast the Cowboys’ season-opener against the Bulldogs on 13 March on the Triple M network.
