1941
Legendary Dragon and rugby league Immortal Graeme Langlands was born on this day in 1941. Affectionately known as 'Chang', the brilliant Langlands was part of four of the Red V's 11 straight premierships and played 45 Tests for the Kangaroos. Langlands was named an Immortal in 1999. He passed away in 2018.
1945
Eastern Suburbs lock Dick Dunn enjoys the finest day of his career when he scores 19 points (three tries and five goals) in his team’s 22-18 win over Balmain in the premiership final. Dunn’s effort remains the record individual score by a player in a match that decides the premiership.
1991
Norths win their first semi-final match since 1952 when they down Manly 28-16. Billy Moore bagged a double for the Bears while Kiwi sharpshooter Daryl Halligan piloted six goals from seven attempts.
1996
Terry Lamb completes his remarkable 17-year career in Canterbury’s 50-22 defeat of North Queensland at Belmore Sports Ground.
2001
Melbourne hooker Richard Swain becomes the first player to make 1000 tackles in a season. Swain completes the marathon achievement of being the only forward to play every minute of every game throughout the season.
2008
Manly fans turn out in their thousands to farewell stalwart Steve Menzies in his final regular season game at Brookvale Oval. The Sea Eagles make light work of the Gold Coast, winning 28-10. Menzies' emotional final season only got better from there as Manly went on to beat Melbourne 40-0 in the grand final and he scored a try in the decider.
2018
Thurston flattens James in final game
NRL legend Johnathan Thurston plays his final NRL match as the Cowboys score a 30-26 win over Gold Coast. He retires with 38 Tests, 37 Origin appearance and 323 NRL matches to his name.
