Payten: I've got 21 names I'm looking at

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys head coach Todd Payten joined Ben Dobbin and Elliot Lovejoy on Triple M’s ‘The Rush Hour’ to discuss the changes he's brought into pre-season training, which players have impressed him so far, and how many players he's looking at for Round 1.

“We have had a wholistic change in the department with a completely new coaching staff, a new recruitment officer and a new head of football, so it’s a completely new message,” Payten said.

“We have to come in and change the way we play footy. We have been a pretty structured team over the last couple of years so we are trying to free the players up to play what they see.

“On the board in front of me I have probably 21 names. At the moment we have four centres that are neck and neck so they will get a split of game time in our trial against Brisbane.”
