McGuire named Players’ Player

Josh McGuire has capped off a tremendous second season in Cowboys colours by being named Players’ Player at tonight’s End of Year Presentation Night at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Despite missing three games, McGuire finished in the top 25 in the NRL for both run metres (2828) and tackles (674) in 2020.

McGuire again was at his consistent best this season. The 30-year-old ran for at least 150 metres in 12 of his 17 appearances and more than 100 in all but one game.

He also made at least 28 tackles in every game he played in 2020.

If those numbers don’t indicate how much of a workhorse McGuire was, this will; he averaged a monstrous 66 minutes a game throughout the season, including three separate 80-minute performances and played at least 70 on four more occasions.
