Cowboys legends lace up the boots one more time

Some of the greatest to ever don a North Queensland Cowboys jersey will be back in action this weekend when a star-studded Cowboys Old Boys outfit takes on a Townsville Blackhawks Invitational Old Boys side.

The match is part of an action-packed program at Jack Manski Oval on Saturday, which also includes the Blackhawks clashing with the Redcliffe Dolphins in three grades.

Three dollars from every ticket sold at the gate will be donated to flood-affected victims in Townsville and across regional North Queensland.

Cowboys life members Paul Bowman, Aaron Payne and Matt Bowen headline a Cowboys side also including former Kangaroos and Maroons star Brent Tate.

It will be the first time Bowman, Payne and Bowen have played together since Bowman’s final NRL game in 2007.

In Bowen and Ash Graham, the Cowboys Old Boys will boast two of the top three try scorers in Cowboys club history.

Bowen scored a club record 130 in his legendary Cowboys career, while Graham ranks third with 84 in his 161 appearances for North Queensland.

Seven of the Cowboys Old Boys side are also current staff members at the club – Bowman (Head of Sports Science), Bowen (Community Engagement Officer), Graham (Strength and Conditioning), Glenn Hall (Football Operations Manager), Micheal Luck (Chief Operating Officer), Tate (Commercial and Business Development) and Mark Henry (Strength and Conditioning).

The day kicks off with the under 18s at 12.50pm, followed by the under 20s at 2.20pm, Queensland Cup at 4pm and the Old Boys clash at 6pm.
