Season review: Justin O'Neill

After battling through a tough start to the season, Justin O'Neill returned to finish 2019 on a high note.

The former Kangaroos centre scored a try in the Cowboys Round 1 victory over the Sharks, but would struggle with dips in form at different points in the first half of the season.

O'Neill was sent back to the Queensland Cup in Round 15, with Paul Green hoping time out of the spotlight would help the 27-year-old re-find some confidence.

The decision paid off, with O'Neill impressing upon his return to the top grade in Round 19. After three games on the left-wing, he returned to his regular right centre spot for the Round 22 clash with arch-rivals Brisbane and turned in a strong performance.

O'Neill will return to the Cowboys in 2019 after picking up a one-year player option.
