Season review: Shaun Fensom

Road to Recovery: Shaun Fensom

A horrific broken leg in the 2017 grand final threatened to end the career of North Queensland Toyota Cowboys workhorse Shaun Fensom, but less than six months later the renowned hardman was back on the field.

Fensom made his return through the Queensland Cup with the Townsville Blackhawks in Round 7 and that was all Cowboys head coach Paul Green needed to see.

The 29-year-old made his NRL comeback the following week and was a regular off the interchange in the top grade for the rest of the season.

Fensom was again a key piece for Green with Jordan McLean, John Asiata and Matt Scott battling injuries at various stages throughout the season.

The fan favourite scored his only try of the season in his final game in Cowboys colours in Round 25 against the Titans.
