"We are always up in our seats in the Southern Stand wearing our shirts, scarves, hats etc. On the odd occasion where we have to miss a home game for a wedding or something we always manage to keep up with the score either on TV or the Cowboys app." – Tina Roberts, North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Gold Star Member.
Tina Roberts is a registered nurse who lives in Townsville with her husband John, their daughters Lucy and Emma, and two Border Collies named Jake and Buddy.
Tina's passion for the Cowboys began the year the team entered the NRL competition in 1995, and she hasn't missed many games since.
Tina recounts going to a Cowboys v Broncos game on a date with her husband John.
"John turned up in his Broncos jersey and let's just say he has never been allowed to wear it since!"
Fast-forward to another moment for the Roberts family, when Tina and John became full-season members and took each of their girls to their very first Cowboys game – Lucy in 2006 and Emma in 2008.
"Our girls have been brought up going to the games since before they were born – there is no other team for them."
Now 13 and 10 years-old respectively, Lucy and Emma have taken on the blue-and-yellow family mantle.
Tina says of her family, "We love the Cowboys – they always play with great spirit for themselves, each other, the game of rugby league and for their community."
For Tina, other memorable moments are of the Cowboys making the 2005 Grand Final, the 2015 Premiership, and the performance displayed by the 2017 team despite injuries.
Overall, Tina says, "I love the sense of community as well as the people that we catch up with at each game."
Of the benefits they receive as members, Tina says, "We love that we always have our seats for both regular games and for any finals games that get played in Townsville, and the members days where you get to see the players up close."
Tina Roberts and her family will once again be seated in the Southern Stand, cheering the Cowboys on in 2019.
