Taumalolo runs riot on Broncos

Jason Taumalolo is no stranger to ridiculous stat lines in XXXX Derby games, but last night's performance in the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys thrilling 34-30 victory over the Broncos may have been his best ever.

The Cowboys lock ran for a huge 286 metres from 24 carries in 71 minutes on the field in a monstrous effort. In terms on running metres, last night's total was Taumalolo's best of the season, topping his previous high of 234 metres against Manly in Round 13.

Taumalolo also chipped in seven tackle busts, a number of which came on a barnstorming 25 metre try-scoring run in the first half.

The performance also earned Taumalolo the Tropic Petroleum 'Man of the Match' by Cowboys head coach Paul Green during post-match celebrations at the Cowboys Leagues Club.

"We had some really good performances during that game," Green said.

"I thought Matt Scott, Jordan McLean and all our middle forwards did a tremendous job laying a platform for our outside backs.

"Kyle Feldt was outstanding as well, but we gave Jase man of the match. He really got us on the front foot and he scored an unbelievable try and it was impossible to go past him."
