Big love from young fan

Nine-year-old Hayden Philp is a Cowboys member whose lifelong dream to go to a home game came true on Saturday night.

Hayden travelled from Brisbane, along with 12 of his family members who are traditionally Broncos supporters, to watch the Cowboys take on the Dragons from the Eastern grandstand.

His family's allegiance to the Broncos doesn't discourage Hayden though, whose enthusiasm of the Cowboys is supported by his great grandmother.

Jessica Brown, Hayden's mum, explained, "Hayden has always had a love of football, a passion that was nurtured by his great grandmother. A Cowboys fan herself, she introduced Hayden to the Cowboys early on in life."

"Despite our best efforts to persuade Hayden to switch teams, he has remained a firm and steadfast supporter," Jessica said.

Described as a "massive fan" by his mum, Hayden's passion for the Cowboys would be obvious to any observer.

Hayden, who had his photo taken with former player Ray Thompson, was in team colours from head-to-toe.

Hayden also had with him a well-loved Cowboys teddy bear, which his mum described as "little worse for wear." Jessica said, "he has a favourite cowboy teddy that has travelled all over Australia on various family holidays over the years."

Hayden's love for the Cowboys doesn't stop there. Jessica explains, "he has clothing and scarves, beanies and socks, a large sign over his bed and posters all over his walls."

His favourite player? Jessica said, "he idolises JT, but can also name every other player on the team."

It's Member Appreciation Round this week leading into Cowboys v Knights at 1300SMILES Stadium on Friday 27 July, followed by the annual Members Carnival on Saturday.

With two of the biggest home games of the season in August, fans can still sign up as members and lock in their seats now for Cowboys v Broncos (Round 22) and Johnathan Thurston's final home game (Round 24) with a three-game or single-game membership.
