Opportunity: Mackay Cutters seek Under 20s coach

The QCCS Mackay Cutters are an Australian semi-professional rugby league club based in Mackay, North Queensland.

Their senior team competes in the statewide Intrust Super Cup, the Queensland second tier rugby league competition of Australia, while their Under 20s team competes in the statewide Hastings Deering Colts.

Due to the expansion of the Hastings Deering Colts, the Mackay Cutters are seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of HDC Under 20s Head Coach / Community Development for the 2019 season.

This is a full-time position within the club. The successful candidate will lead the planning, preparation and coaching of players within the Hastings Deering Colts playing squad and will also incorporate a community / development role. This position will report to the CEO.

While the core focus will be with the Hastings Deering Colts Under 20s team, additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • To be responsible in conjunction with local clubs (senior and junior), assistant Intrust Super Cup coaches and Cutters' Academy staff for the selection and development of players and coaches within the region. This includes but not limited to Community Coach Education Sessions
  • To plan and deliver the technical and tactical aspects of the Hastings Deering Colts squad preparation and participation in the relevant competition
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of individual player performance in association with the support staff
  • Lead in the provision of feedback to players in the Hastings Deering Colts squad in conjunction with all support staff
  • Participate fully in the review of all players' welfare and pastoral requirements and ensure that they are facilitated
  • Where appropriate, engage with local media
  • Work alongside other staff in implementing and delivering local community programs
  • Community and sponsor engagement
  • Work in conjunction with the football department staff to ensure that all are supported and developed in achieving player and staff targets
  • Ensure that there are robust and effective methods of communication between all players and staff
  • Provide pre and post competition reports for the Chief Executive Officer (verbal only)
  • Provide monthly reports to the Mackay Cutters Board of Directors (written)

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role
  • The ability to prepare plans of a high standard to ensure effective preparation and participation in an elite competition
  • Positive attitude to achieve results in potentially difficult circumstances
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with both players and staff
  • Strong computer skills

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Nationally Accredited Level 2 Coach (minimum requirement) working towards Level 3
  • Current Working With Children check is essential
  • Open driver's license
