Asiata returns to NRL action

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys premiership-winning forward John Asiata will make his first appearance since Round 7 in Saturday night's clash with the Raiders at GIO Stadium.

Asiata was feared to be out for the season after tearing a pec against the Titans early in the season, but is set to return to the field in just 12 weeks after being named in Paul Green's starting side for the Canberra encounter.

The 25-year-old replaces co-captain Matt Scott in the front-row with the Cowboys veteran failing to overcome an ongoing neck issue.

Queensland State of Origin stars Gavin Cooper and Coen Hess have also been named in Green's starting side, but their availability will depend on their recovery from Wednesday night's series finale against NSW.

Shane Wright holds his spot on the bench after a promising season debut against South Sydney in Round 16 and is joined on the interchange by Ben Hampton, Shaun Fensom and Corey Jensen.

Centre Justin O'Neill, forwards Ethan Lowe, Mitchell Dunn and Francis Molo as well as halfback Jake Clifford make up the reserves list.

Saturday's game kicks off at 7.30pm.
