Matt Bowen heading to Ayr for JRL clinic!

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys legend Matt Bowen is heading to Ayr this Thursday to host a free clinic for local junior rugby league players – all juniors aged 6-12 years invited!

Bowen, who played 270 NRL matches for the Cowboys between 2001 and 2013, will run the youngsters through their paces at Rugby Park from 5pm to 6pm.

The clinic is run in partnership with Wilmar Sugar and will also involve the Cowboys game development team.

"It's a great day out for the community, and we usually have lots of parents come along. There's also time after the clinic for everyone to get together which is really important as well," Bowen said.

"I love getting out to the smaller communities to spend time with the kids. When we go out to places like Ayr the whole community jumps on board and gets involved, which is great.

"During the clinic we like to put a focus on improving skills by playing games, which makes the day really enjoyable for the players.

"We are really grateful for the support of Wilmar Sugar. They have partnered with the Cowboys since 2009 and this partnership gives us the opportunity to deliver programs like this not only in the Burdekin, but in places like Ingham as well and that's really important for grassroots rugby league."

Event details:
• Thursday 26 April, 5pm-6pm
• Rugby Park, Wickham Street, Ayr
• Open to participants aged 6-12 years
• The clinic will be followed by a fundraising barbecue, hosted by Wilmar Sugar.
