North Queensland Toyota Cowboys head coach Paul Green officially welcomed two Toyota 86 Racing Series drivers to Cowboys HQ today, ahead of this weekend’s pinnacle motor sport event - the Townsville 400.
Cowboys’ principal sponsor Toyota will bring the Toyota 86 Racing Series to the Queensland contest for the first time, and will feature the two Cowboys-branded cars unveiled earlier this year.
Coach Green said it was great to meet fellow sportsmen – Neal and Harry Bates, and share in their excitement about the upcoming race.
“We [Cowboys] have the privilege of competing in our national sport every weekend, so to share in their lead-up to their inaugural race entry, is a great opportunity,” Green said.
Toyota ambassadors, and the father-son duo Neal and Harry, arrived in Townsville earlier this week, eager to hit the 2.85km circuit – but not before sharing the experience with the Cowboys.
Green will join Kyle Feldt, Ethan Lowe, Antonio Winterstein and Glenn Hall for an exclusive hot lap experience, thanks to Toyota.
“As a self-confessed car lover, taking a ride for a hot-lap has always been on my bucket list, and the players and I are really looking forward to hitting the track.”
“We’ve built a strong relationship with Toyota since partnering with them back in 2003, and we wish them the best of luck with their racing series this weekend.”
Toyota created the 86 Racing Series to identify, develop and promote new driving talent and offers prizes valued at $125,000.
The Cowboys membership team will be at the Townsville 400 this weekend, 7-9 July!
