Thank you to the Cowboys Supporters Team for their hard work and commitment to the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys!

For an amazing tenth year running, volunteers from the Cowboys Supporters Team have raised $60,000 to support the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys elite pathways program.

The donation takes the Supporters Team's fundraising total to over half a million dollars over the past decade, with funds dedicated to identifying and developing the next generation of North Queensland Cowboys.

Representatives from the Supporters Team presented the cheque for funds raised in 2016 to Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner on field at the home game against Manly.

Cowboys Supporters Team president Ben Costa said that it's a rewarding feeling to know their hard work is helping to develop the Cowboys of the future.

“The time and effort from all the past and present members is outstanding, given the fact that most of us have full time jobs and volunteer our time to raise these funds,” Mr Costa said.

“Knowing that everything we raise helps North Queensland's rugby league youth and the overwhelming feeling of community and team pride makes it worth all the effort.”

Homegrown talent to come through the club's elite pathways program includes current NYC coach and former NRL player Aaron Payne; Cowboys, Queensland and Kangaroos representative Michael Morgan; and reigning Dally M medallist and Kiwi representative Jason Taumalolo.

The Cowboys Supporters Team's fundraising activities include doubles at each home game and the popular Supporters Thursday raffles at the Cowboys Leagues Club during the NRL season.

Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner said the hundreds of volunteer hours do not go unnoticed, and their unwavering support for young North Queensland talent is a huge boost for the game of rugby league overall.

“Having North Queensland juniors play for the Cowboys is one of our club’s chief aims and the funds our Supporters Team raise every year helps us to achieve that,” Mr Tonner said.

“We’ve had a number of current and past players benefit from this funding, so their dedication is truly paying off.”
