North Queensland Toyota Cowboys co-captain Johnathan Thurston today represented his club, region, members and fans in heralding a new NRL campaign at the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership season launch in Sydney.

JT joined representatives of the 15 other clubs and hundreds of supporters at Martin Place to introduce the new season, as well as launch a new marketing campaign that highlights how fan power can help create history.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said that recent history had proven how important members and fans were to their teams’ fortunes.

“Our fans and members make a difference every week,” Mr Greenberg said at the launch.

“They all ride the highs and lows of every team ... they celebrate every win and feel every defeat.

“The mantra for us this year is 'Let’s Make History'. It is fitting as it suggests a collective effort. Our fans, our players, our clubs are in the fight together.

“Our fans and members can and will make a difference to those incredible things that our superstars do on the field.”

Cowboys lock and reigning dual Dally M Medallist Jason Taumalolo features in the new TV campaign, that includes vignettes where fans play a role in motivating the players.

The Cowboys host the Raiders in their season opener on Saturday 4 March – kick off at 6pm.
