Townsville Blackhawks v PNG Hunters
Saturday, 12 September at Jack Manski Oval, 5pm
Referee: Chris Anderson

Following the Northern Pride’s unceremonious exit at the hands of the Ipswich Jets in Week One of the Intrust Super Cup finals, the Townsville Blackhawks remain the only North Queensland Toyota Cowboys feeder team still alive in 2015. It’s a golden chance for the competition debutantes to make a massive impression in their debut year with the winner of this 1 versus 2 finals clash going straight through to the grand final in a fortnight’s time. For the loser, the long road to the grand final awaits in the form of a showdown with the winner of the Ipswich Jets-Easts Tigers elimination match on Sunday.

The Blackhawks and the Hunters have been the breakaway standouts in the Cup this year, and finished well clear of the chasing pack in the regular season. The Hunters will be buoyed by the fact they were only one of two teams to defeat the Blackhawks, and the fact they did it twice and once on Townsville’s home turf is not insignificant. But the Blackhawks aren’t the minor premiers by accident and boast a strong lineup including Cowboys-contracted quartet Zac Santo, Robert Lui, Glenn Hall and Kelepi Tanginoa. It’ll be a cracking match and expect a huge contingent of Hunters supporters to be at the match.
