Toyota Cowboys fullback Zac Santo showed he was much more than just a fine footballer when he joined the winners of the Toyota Gone Fishing competition on a fishing trip with a difference at the weekend.

Rodney McDonald invited his brothers Shane and Russell along to share the experience with Zac after winning the competition run through the network of North Queensland Toyota Dealers.

The day-long fishing extravaganza started at Jupiters Townsville on Saturday and featured a helicopter ride to four different locations, including a sandbank at the mouth of the Haughton River, Bray Island, Salmon Creek and Barramundi Creek.

They had time for a gourmet lunch complete with XXXX and eventually returned to Townsville late in the afternoon with enough fish to rate the trip as an outstanding success.

“It definitely was a unique trip,” Santo said.

“I can’t imagine too many other times when we’ll have the use of a helicopter to go to some of the best fishing spots around.

“I know I really enjoyed it and I’m sure the other boys did too.”

The winning entry was lodged at Bell & Moir Toyota in Mt Isa.
