Eight North Queensland Toyota Cowboys will be involved in the opening round of the 2014 Intrust Super Cup season this weekend.

Once their five-day camp on the Gold Coast is over, three Cowboys will link up with the Mackay Cutters who open the defence of their premiership against Easts at Stadium Mackay on Saturday night, while another five Cowboys will line up for Northern Pride against Sunshine Coast at Barlow Park in Cairns late on Saturday afternoon.

Hooker Anthony Mitchell and prop Sam Hoare have been named in the Cutters’ starting pack with John Asiata to come off the interchange bench along with fellow Cowboys Tyson Martin and Dan Beasley.

New signing Matthew Wright will make his ISC debut at fullback for the Pride with Javid Bowen to play his first senior game on the wing.

Ricky Thorby and Ethan Lowe have been included in the starting pack, while Cameron King has been named on the bench which also features last year’s North Queensland NYC captain Jack Svendsen and former Cowboy Blake Leary.
