Makenzie Weale will depart the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys ahead of the 2027 NRLW season.
The Cowboys and Weale were unable to agree to new terms after waiving a mutual option.
Cowboy NRLW player No.9, Weale appeared in 31 games for North Queensland.
The 24-year-old has been an integral member of the Cowboys squad over the club’s first four seasons in the NRLW competition.
Weale started at lock in the club's first-ever NRLW game against the Titans in 2023.
“Makenzie has been a valued part of our Cowboys family, and it’s never easy to farewell someone who has contributed so much to our team, both on and off the field,” Cowboys Head of NRLW and Women’s Elite Pathways Anita Creenaune said.
“Throughout her time with us, Makenzie has played an important role in establishing how we want to play, bringing her own character and commitment to the group, so we are really disappointed to be losing her.
“We’re incredibly grateful for everything Makenzie has given to our club and the role she has played in our NRLW program and wish her every success and happiness in the next chapter. She’ll always be part of our Cowboys family.”
