Cowboys release Lodge

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to an immediate release for prop Matt Lodge, who will take up an opportunity in the UK Super League.

Lodge has appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys in 2026 after joining the club late in the pre-season.

The 31-year-old will depart North Queensland immediately and will not be available for selection against the Eels this weekend.

“We reached out to Matt in November when we were in need of forward depth following unexpected injuries to established members of our pack,” Cowboys Football Club CEO Micheal Luck said.

“Matt did a wonderful job for us early in the season, but is now seeking more game time than we are currently able to provide.

“The Cowboys wish Matt and his family all the best with their move overseas.”
