The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to a two-year extension with prop Tom Mikaele, running through the 2028 season.
The 28-year-old has entrenched himself as a vital cog in Todd Payten’s middle forward rotation over the past 12 months.
Mikaele has appeared in 90 NRL games, including 23 in Cowboys colours since arriving at the club prior to the 2024 season. The Keebra Park State High alum made his NRL debut for the Wests Tigers in 2019 and has also spent time with the Gold Coast Titans and Warrington in the UK Super League.
Mikaele is currently sidelined with a knee injury, but could return as early as Round 4 to face the Melbourne Storm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
“We are delighted Tom has agreed to extend his time in North Queensland,” Cowboys Recruitment Manager Clint Zammit said.
“Tom is a wonderful example of how hard work and dedication can change the trajectory of your career. He came to our club on a Development List contract after short stays at different clubs in the NRL and Super League and is now a vital member of our squad.
“He is a powerful runner of the ball and provides a point of difference to our attack with his offloading.
“We look forward to his contributions to our club on and off the field.”
