Community Corner: Home game line-up unveiled

The final line-up of community organisations that will be featured at North Queensland Toyota Cowboys home games this season has been released ahead of next Sunday’s Cowboys home season opener against the Titans.

Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto joined players Jake Clifford and Kai O’Donnell at Queensland Country Bank Stadium earlier this week along with community organisation representatives, to launch the 2026 Community Corner program, Presented by Townsville City Council.

“Footy is back, and it’s always an exciting time of year for Townsville and the North,” Cr Dametto said.

“Cowboys home games deliver much more than 80-minutes of on field action, the club plays a broader role in our entire region’s identity, culture and economy,” he said.

“Community Corner is a way to utilise the Cowboys’ powerful platform to raise the profiles of other important organisations that make a difference in our community.”

Townsville City Council has supported Community Corner since 2020.

With a dedicated location on the Northern Concourse inside Gate A at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, it offers local not-for-profit organisations the opportunity to showcase their work, connect with fans and raise awareness and funds.

Cowboys Community Foundation CEO Fiona Pelling said the long-running initiative continued to be one of the club’s most meaningful community touchpoints.

“Each of the selected not-for-profit organisations have a charter to contribute to, and benefit the North, and like our Foundation, they operate through the contribution of volunteers, fundraising efforts and some government assistance,” Fiona said.

“Community Corner is offered at no cost to the participating organisations, reflecting the Cowboys’ commitment to assisting charities and not-for-profits who also deliver valuable programs and positive impacts across the North.

“The organisations often run competitions, have giveaways and offer fun activities which also add to the experience of Cowboys members and fans in the lead up to each home game kick-off.”

This year’s Community Corner squad includes (in order of home games): Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Feel the Magic, Transitcare, Invictus Australia, DFV Action Group, StreetSmarts, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Wilmar, Family of League, Homelessness Action Group, Scootaville and Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics.

Community Corner activates from gates open till kick-off at every NRL home game. For more visit our website.
